long week

like the title says, it has been a long week! i think it was a bad idea to start a blog in the midst of computer issues. my computer crashed 2 weeks ago and i am still waiting for my new laptop from dell. hopefully it comes soon so i can keep up with this more!
as far as my running goes, i have been doing well. i use my nike +, and have been using the training log on nike.com which is great. i keep track of my training, running, and biking. i like the fact that i can plan ahead on the log, that keeps me motivated. if it is planned, i will do it! i also like to see the miles add up and how i improve my pace. i have been running on the treadmill each day. i have not tried running outside yet. i think i will wait till the weather cools down and it is a bit less humid outside. i have not had any problems with my hips lately. When I first started doing intervals a few months back i was having a lot of trouble with my hips. my joints were hurting really bad - i felt like i was 60 instead of 26!

day one

well, i guess technically day 2. i was supposed to start running yesterday, but i did not pack everything i needed for the gym so i ended up just riding one of the bikes. running in a strapless bra would not have been the best idea. today after training, i warmed up for a little bit, and then ran for a mile straight on the treadmill. that is the longest i have ran without stopping - ever! i was happy. i spent about 2 1/2 hours at the gym and felt great after. i have been doing intervals for about 4 months now, but never tried just plain old running. up until i started doing intervals i was scared of the treadmill and always used the elliptical. my trainer made me try it out, and i am glad she did. i love it now! i plan on running again tomorrow but i want to see how i feel in the AM.

i have a goal to reach now...i am running a half marathon in October. i probably should have started small and try a 5k or 10k first, but i know i can do it. my ultimate goal is to start training for a triathlon by the end of the year, and participate in one next spring. as long as i can get the running down, i think i will be OK with that one. i will need to brush up on my swimming skills though!
